Agnes Rowena Meek, known to family and friends as Ro, 91, of Parma, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 10, 2024. She was born on September 30, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Irma Jones (nee Hoffman). Rowena was preceded in death by her brother, William Jones; her sister-in-law Geraldine Jones; and her brothers-in-law, Morgan David and James Lowe.
Rowena will be missed dearly by her family. Loving mother of Charles C. Meek III (Susan), Melodie L. Meek, Gregory R. Meek (Danna), and Melinda M. Jencson (David); cherished grandmother of Chip Meek (Lori), Jon Meek, Becky Meek (Rick), Hannah Jencson, and Sarah Jencson; great-grandmother of RJ, Zach, and Emma; dear sister of Roberta Butler (Mitch), Rheba David, and Karen Lowe; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Rowena had several jobs in her career. She worked for Alexander's Flowers for years and was a talented florist and a valuable and loved member of the team. She worked at May Company and then Kaufmann's from where she retired. In the heyday of May Company, she had a hand in designing and decorating the fabulous big store windows in downtown Cleveland.
But the biggest and most meaningful job was as Mom and Grandma. Somehow, she managed to raise and keep safe four rowdy kids while being uprooted and moved around the country every few years. She was always there when needed with soothing words, hugs, and at times a shoulder to cry on. It has been said many times about many moms, but she really was…the best Mom ever.
The years and experience raising her kids was the perfect training ground for the grandkids and great grandkids that came along. She was such a loving, kind, and patient Grandmother and will forever be sorely missed and fondly remembered. We take comfort knowing that she is reunited with her father (who passed away when she was very young and for the rest of her life called "daddy"), mother, and brother.
Rowena loved Jesus, her family, trees, flowers, clouds, and was best known for her heart-healing hugs! Her gentle spirit and contagious laughter will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her light shined bright on earth, and because of God's grace, continues to shine in heaven.
Visitation and closed-casket funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087. Visitation hours from 12:30-2 pm. Service at 2 pm.
