ALVAH (JIMMY) LEONARD JAMES JR., age 85, of Chesterland, entered into rest Aug. 24, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Mildred (nee Bentley); loving father of John (Patricia) James, Judith (Kenneth) Wagner, and Jeffrey (Terri) James; devoted grandfather of Brian and Lindsey Wagner, Chris James and Danielle (Michael) Maur; great grandfather Arianna Maur and Trever Maur. He was born Nov. 10, 1923 in Cleveland. Mr. James served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, along with his father, Alvah Sr. He served aboard the USS JUPITER (AK-43). He also served during the Korean War aboard the USS SAN MARCOS (LSD-25). Mr. James worked as a Master Rigger and Senior Driver for Thomas W. Easton & Sons for 38 years. During this time he made many memorable transports. The most memorable being when he was chosen to drive the Apollo Space Capsule Exhibit through Ohio. Mr. James was a member of the Broadway YMCA "Y''s Men" Association and the Teamsters Union. The family will receive friends THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, FROM 10:00 A.M. UNTIL THE TIME OF FUNERAL SERVICES AT 1:00 P.M. AT THE BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 8592 DARROW RD., TWINSBURG, OH (1/2 mile S. of 1-480 Rt. 91 exit). In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Hospice of The Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery.
