Obituary

Andrew William Tajgiszer, age 83, of Macedonia, Ohio passed away peacefully in the hospital on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was the husband of Janet (Coble) Tajgiszer who preceded him in death on November 19, 2019.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Andrew Tajgiszer and Olga Toth (Gall), both deceased.

He will be dearly missed by his son Rodney (Amy) Tajgiszer and his daughter Andrea (Dave - boyfriend) Tajgiszer; treasured Grandfather to Haley and Ryan Tajgiszer; loved by his sister Mary Ann (Kenneth) Yarmesch, loving Brother-in-Law, Uncle and Cousin to hundreds of family members; and Papa to the doggies: Emme, Diamond, Bailey, Nala, and Finn. Andrew was a member of the United States Army. Member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.

Andrew loved to drive his car. From the minute he was permitted to drive, he never stopped. He liked it even more if he was driving a convertible! In the early years, he drove everywhere in Cleveland, but, in and around Buckeye Road. He and his best friends Bob Benedek and Joe Revak drove to the golf course, the bowling league, the church, many bars, and restaurants in the area, to Sandusky, to Florida, to the mountains. Those boys sure had a good time together and he is now with them again.  In his younger years, he even took his sister Mary Ann on many of those car rides. He also drove to Western Reserve Chapter # 71 for his Eastern Star Meetings, and he was also a Mason and drove to his meetings at various lodges where he was a member.

After his marriage to Janet, many more layers of car rides were added to his collection. Especially after he had Rodney and Andrea. Andrew loved driving around looking at Christmas lights, particularly where he worked at GE Nela Park, Lighting Division. The family also drove to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Niagara Falls, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee, and many other places. One of Andy's favorite places to drive was to the Coble camp in Austin, PA. He loved going to that camp! His driving also included taking the kids to and attending baseball games, Hungarian Festivals, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Indian Guides, dances, church meetings, and seeing friends and family across the United States. A couple of those long drives were trips to surprise the Yarmesch family at some of their gatherings in Spring Hill, Florida. He drove back and forth countless times to see Rodney and Andrea while they attended college.

He was not able to drive this one, but he was able to travel to Hungary with his wife and children in 1988. This was a once in a lifetime trip for Andrew and he was proud to be able to see his Hungarian heritage live with all his friends and family from the First Hungarian Reformed Church.

As his children grew up, the love of driving never stopped. He and Janet went on hundreds of drives to casinos, Amish country, weekends away, more Hungarian festivals, games/sports for Haley and Ryan, drives from store to store to find the perfect gift for Rodney or the exact candle scent that Andrea wanted, searching for something special for the grandchildren, or the meatiest marrow bones and seasonal bandanas for the dogs. He and Janet and many times with Andrea enjoyed visiting wineries across the United States as well as the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky. In the early years and all the way until the last year of his life, Andy travelled repeatedly to Walt Disney World.

His final drive (last time he drove on a road trip before becoming ill himself) was with his wife Janet. The date was November 18, 2019. It was a beautiful fall day and he decided to take Janet for a long car drive. They went up to New York, over to Pennsylvania and back home. In the car, he sang Christmas carols to her, stopped for lunch at a favorite spot, admired the view of Lake Erie, and looked at the leaves. This was such an important trip for Andy. At the time he did not know that it would be Janet's last ride as she passed the next day. He also did not know it would be his last drive as he would have a very complicated medical journey that prevented him from being able to drive again.  It truly was their last ride. He is now with her again in heaven.

Raise a glass, say a prayer, and remember a life well lived. Andrew will be missed by so many.

Andrew loved his 50's music. In the words of The Spaniels:  Goodnight sweetheart, well, it's time to go, Goodnight sweetheart, well, it's time to go, I hate to leave you, but I really must say, Goodnight sweetheart, Goodnight.

Andrew wanted to be cremated and there will be a reception and memorial service at Hine Funeral Home at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio on Friday, October 8, 2021.
