Bernice joined her heavenly family on May 7 th , 2021 at the age of 97 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Bernice was a beloved wife to Michael Novak who passed away in 1990 and to James Chauvin who passed away in 2015.
She was a beloved mother to Michael Novak who resides in Virginia Beach, VA with his wife Erlinda. Their daughter Tina resides in San Diego, CA along with her Husband Giuller and children, Caleb and Khloe. Their Son EJ resides in Fairfax, VA.
Bernice was also a beloved mother to Mark Novak who resides in Acworth, GA with his wife Beth. Their daughter Elizabeth resides in Athens, GA and their son Christopher resides in Acworth, GA.
Bernice was born in Blaine City, Pennsylvania to Ida and Michael Chervenic on January 4, 1924. She was a beloved sister to Clayton, Roy, and Leonard Chervenic. All were raised in Akron, Ohio.
Clayton and his wife Annie have both passed on. They resided in Pompano Beach, FL.
Roy has also passed on and he is survived by his wife Wilma who lives in Jupiter, FL. Daughter Jo Anne and son Mickey both have families and both have blessed Roy and Wilma with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leonard lives in Silver Lake, Ohio with his wife Geneva. They have four daughters, Cheryl, Jana, Linda, and Laurie and a son David. The daughters and son have families and all have blessed Leonard and Geneva with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bernice married Michael Novak shortly after the end of World War II and they raised their family in Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake, Ohio. They retired to Stuart, Florida in 1984 and Bernice's beloved Michael passed on in 1990.
Bernice was fortunate to find James Chauvin several years after Michael passed. They wed and enjoyed many happy years together in Port St. Lucie, FL until James passed on in 2015.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Bernice led and active and full life. Bernice's formal education ended with her graduation from Garfield High School in Akron, Ohio. She later worked for many years as an office manager for a psychiatry practice in Akron as she raised her family but her true love was sculpture and art. She created many lovely pieces over the years that her family will always cherish.
Michael and Bernice had a wide circle of friends and they never let work get in the way of their large golf outings followed by parties and laughter that would last well into the night.
Bernice had an unending curiosity for many things that came her way and in some ways she lived vicariously through the lives of her sons to feed this curiosity. Michael and Mark will say that she was their biggest fan, always engaged and always there for them and their families (wives, grandchildren, and great grandchildren) in the most loving ways. She raised her sons to be good Christians with a strong belief in God. She also remained very close to her parents, her brothers, and their families during her lifetime.
Bernice has left a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who truly knew her.
A reception will be held at 3185 North Dover Rd., Silver Lake, Ohio 44224 immediately after the graveside service.
