Obituary

Martha M. "Candy" Christman left this world peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18, 2021.

Candy was born October 20, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Donald C. H. and Roberta (Seeds) Christman. Candy graduated Silver Lake Elementary School in 1960 and graduated Cuyahoga Falls High School, Class of 1964. Candy enjoyed a long career as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines, based in Miami, Florida. She traveled worldwide and loved greeting people with her beautiful smile and warm personality, as she lovingly served and cared for her passengers. A career highlight for several years was working the Doral Open PGA Tour, sponsored by Eastern Airlines. Candy relocated to Silver Lake in 1992 and was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant while also caring for her elderly parents, Don and Bobbie Christman.

Among her many interests, Candy enjoyed boating, water skiing, snow skiing, tennis, gourmet cooking and recipes, and her artistic talent of painting. Candy was a member of the Chapel in Akron.

Candy loved family and was especially close to her sister Charme. She is survived by Charme (Mark) Ondracek, Don (Gayle) Christman, Mindy Christman, Roberta (Richard) Mehl. Candy adored her nephews and nieces and they loved "Aunt Candy" who spent special time with each one. Surviving nephews: Dr. Robert (Marilu) Ondracek, Dr. Jeffrey (Stephanie) Ondracek, Dr. Andrew Ondracek, Christopher Mehl; and surviving nieces, Wendy (Tee) Wilkins, Bobbi (Dan) Coleman. Great nephews Reece Ondracek, Mason Wilkins, and great nieces, Madeline Wilkins, Emma and Anna Coleman.

She is also lovingly remembered to close high school girlfriends who regularly gathered and looked after each other.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff at Akron General Cleveland Clinic who compassionately cared for our dear sister, Candy, in her last fragile days: Shane and Dr. Maggie in ER, Gina, Care management and the seventh floor nursing staff, Gea, Tina and Lily and the fifth floor nursing staff.

Arrangements are in the care and trust of the Hine Funeral Home at Crown Hill. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in remembrance of Candy may be made to The Chapel in Akron,135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304; In Touch Ministries, Atlanta, GA; Burnham Ministries International; Gideons International.
