Charles R. Blessing, age 71, of Aurora, entered into rest January 7, 2013.
Charles (Chuck) Blessing has been in the funeral business for more than 40 years. He began his career working in a funeral home when he was just 15 years old. He learned from the best to provide professional and caring service not found in the industry today. To say that he learned his profession from the "old school" is not an exaggeration, and he always maintained the high standards he developed as a young boy. His story is an interesting one.
After his high school days he became involved with Shell Oil Company and had several service stations in Lake County, Ohio. He earned his Associate''s Degree while devoting many hours to his business. Being a true entrepreneur, he realized that his customers needed transportation while their automobiles were being serviced, so he started a leasing company. The leasing company was so successful that he began Blessing Limousine Service, and from there the transition back to the funeral business was a natural for him. He served as a part time Willoughby police officer for several years. He was the manager and funeral director of Blessing Funeral Home in Twinsburg, and will be greatly missed by all of his employees.
Beloved husband of Daniele (Donna) (nee Ponikvar), former husband of Judy A. Blessing (nee Reiter), loving father of Brian (Jody) and Debra Griesmer (nee Blessing), stepfather to Michelle Chernikoff (nee Ulrich) and Kelly Ulrich; cherished grandfather of Chad and Morgan Blessing, and Alex and Amanda Griesmer; step grandfather to Brandon and Sydney Chernikoff; brother of Clark Zaft and Carole (Richard) Bosich.
