Christos Thomas Petropoulos, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents Thomas Christos & Despina Santrapes Petropoulos; Chris is survived by his wife of 42 years, Melenie Werl Petropoulos; son Thomas Christos Petropoulos; sister, Marina Petropoulos; and sister-in-law, Cathy Jane Werl. Chris joined the United State Navy on November 18, 1948, served on the USS Borie (DD-704) during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on November 18, 1952. Chris was a member of VFW Post 548, Morgantown, West Virginia. In 1956, he graduated from West Virginia University (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy), beginning a successful 56-year career in pharmacy management and retired as a pharmacist in 2014. Mr. Petropoulos was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church; his Orthodox faith and Greek ancestry were important aspects of his life. He regularly volunteered at the Annual Greek Festival and the Gyro Luncheons held on Thursdays. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, fishing, and traveling. Chris was a devoted husband and loving father. May his memory be eternal. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., Akron, OH at 11:00a.m. Visitation at church prior to services from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Entombment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made in his name to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
