Clara Irene Draus, (nee Pogroszewski), 90, passed away Feb. 18 in the comfort of hospice care and in the company of her loving daughter.
The longtime resident of Sagamore Hills worked 30 years for the federal government in high-level secretarial positions. After retiring, the Cleveland native worked five more years in similar jobs for the state government.
She loved opera and, in her younger days, sang in various Polish-heritage choirs. She also was artistic and handy, designing, decorating and building items for her home. The graduate of John Hay High School spent much of her later years enjoying the company of her triplet grandchildren.
Mostly, she was known for her generosity, kindness and sense of humor, all of which endeared her to those she knew.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Draus Klein (Colin); grandchildren Nova Klein, Rory Klein and Sage Klein; sister Jennie Wojniak (Edward); and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Kazimiera (Listkowska) Pogroszewski; sisters Helen Sommerfeld (Robert) and Cecelia Juszczec; and brothers Dr. Chester List (Stephanie), Ted Paige (Marge), Henry Pogroszewski, Edmund Pogroszewski and Joseph Pogroszewski.
A graveside memorial was held Feb. 21 by Blessing-Hine Funeral Home at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Family also will hold an informal celebration of her life at a later date.
