Obituary

Daniel Alexander Lamont passed away peacefully on July 31st, 2019 at the age of 65 after his long battle
with both lung and bone cancer.

Daniel was born on January 16th, 1954 to Master Machinist Alexander Lamont and the lovely Ann (Della)
Brown. Daniel was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended St. Edwards High School in
Lakewood, Ohio. Following his high school years Daniel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He
served his country faithfully, and upon his fulfillment of duties received an Honorable Discharge.
Daniel returned home and decided to pursue a career within the Railroad Industry. He had always
watched and studied trains, and it was the continuation of a childhood passion. Daniel was a hard
worker and he applied himself to learn all the facets of the Industry. He moved up through the ranks of
Supervision, and eventually Managed crews across the Midwest in cities including Buffalo, Pittsburgh,
and his hometown of Cleveland. He retired after 35 years of Service in the Transportation Industry
where he was highly respected. He worked for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, as well as Conrail.
During this time Daniel married his beautiful wife Anna M. Lamont (predeceased). They were married 43
years. Daniel and his wife were animal lovers who belonged to several agencies that cared for and found
homes for dogs and cats that were rescued or found. Daniel bought a Horse farm, where they bought
and raised horses. They also took in horses that needed a home after neglect and poor care. Daniel was
an avid Cleveland Sports fan throughout his life, and loved the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. When
asked he would admit that the Browns were his favorite team, and he followed them faithfully through
good times and bad.

Daniel is survived by his son, Daniel E. Lamont, and was a loving brother to his sisters Pamela, Patricia,
Mary (predeceased), and Sandra (predeceased). Daniel was a Loving and Caring Grandfather and Uncle
to many.
