Obituary

Donald K Heiman was born on June 30, 1927 and passed away on December 9, 2021at the age of 94.  He was the beloved husband for over 70 years of Beverly (deceased) and is survived by sons Don Jr (Carolyn), Rich, Ken  (Violet) and daughters Terry and Denise.

He was also the cherished grandfather of 7, great-grandfather of 6 and great great-grandfather of 3 as well as to an extended family of support in Mary Ann Alberino, Brenda Robinson, Maureen Stanley and Suzanne Mazurek.

Don grew up in the Buckeye Road area in Cleveland and graduated from East Tech.  Near the end of WWII he was drafted and trained as a corpsman.  After mustering out he attended Western Reserve University but with 2 young children already on hand he was unable to attend college and work, so he took the first steps in his sales career.

For a few years he worked as a driver/sales person for Distillata, Vernors and DanDee, but he was so successful in expanding his routes that he was continually cut back in territory so he did not make too much money.  This led to his taking a position as a salesman for a firm developing the new types of synthetic and semi-synthetic metalworking coolants.

Again after a few years he decided to start his own firm and Buckeye lubricants was born.  Through his efforts it grew to include nationwide marketing with a number of distributors and a sales branch in California.  He also developed and patented one of his products.

As his efforts wound down he began to spend a lot of time with the Babes of 1916, and over 65 group that played softball and golf.  He was a member for about 25 years and during the first 10 or so was pleased to be able to play softball and to golf with his brother Rich as part of the organization and in his last few active years he was able to play softball on the team with his son Don Jr.  He greatly appreciated the friendships formed through this group.

A private interment ceremony has already been held and there will be a gathering of remembrance after the holidays and when the weather is more reliable.

The family greatly appreciates the cards, calls and texts from relatives, friends and of course the Babes.
