Don Schmid passed away peacefully in his Streetsboro home on Monday, April 13, 2020, where he was accompanied by his wife Vivian (Walters) of almost 35 years.

He was born May 21, 1934 and graduated from John Adams High School where he was in the Honor Society and played varsity basketball.   He worked at Ohio Bell/AT&T as a telephone repairman from 1955 until 1988 when he took an arly retirement and started his own business, DS Communications, from which he retired in 2006.

He resided in Maple Heights from 1962 until 1994, and in Twinsburg from 1995 until 2019.   He was a member of United Methodist Church and was the local Cub Scout Pack 574 leader in the 60's.  He was an avid bowler who also enjoyed golfing, hunting, white water rafting, softball and fishing.   He loved the beach and spent many years vacationing at the Outer Banks.  He was also known to enjoy a beer or two .....

Don enjoyed his family and was always cheerful and helpful to everyone.    He had a loving family and a lot of friends and will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his children Cheryl Gorman, Charles (Linda) Schmid, Alicia (Tim) Morrison and Erika (Mike) Ward, and step daughters Kim (Brian) Harris and Emily (Jeremy) Griffith.    He was a loving grandfather to Sarah Schmid, Tiffany Morrison, Katie (Marcus) Ellis , Calla Schmid, Tiffany Tarro, Morgan Tarro, Tyler Harris, Zachary Harris, Abigail Griffith, Henry Ward and Oliver Ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Agnes Hnizdil and his siblings Laverne Penkal and Franklin Schmid.
