Douglas Devoe Brown, 83, of Mentor, passed away on January 17, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital due to COVID-19 related complications. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Ruth Brown, and his sister Delores (Walter) Andrews. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (née Fussner), of 62 years and by his brother Clair. He was the loving father of Douglas Alan (Michelle née Lonchar) and the devoted papa of granddaughters, Lauren (Dr. Adam Boggs) and Haley Marie. Doug, a 1955 graduate of Collinwood High School, worked for the White Motors Company, where he met his wife Joyce. He was then hired by The Lubrizol Corporation where he worked until he retired. He was a proud US Army veteran stationed in Korea, who loved his country. Doug was also a huge fan of the Cleveland Indians and shared this love of baseball with his son. Together, they attended numerous games in many different cities; Chicago, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati to name a few. They also spent untold hours waiting in lines to get autographs of their favorite players. Doug enjoyed traveling with Joyce as well, especially after he retired. When he was home, his attention was focused on his family. For this reason he wasn't just "dad" and "papa" to his son and granddaughters, but "friend". Interment was at Crownhill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In leu of flowers, please make contributions to a Veterans Charity of your choice.
