ERNEST F. HENKEL, 74, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Euclid/Stow, Ohio, died June 6, 2008 at Healthpark Hospital from complications following heart surgery. Ernie was born August 3, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Marilyn (nee Muehl), his beloved children, Nancie (Richard) Perilman of Stow, Ohio, Timothy of Fort Myers Beach, FL, Kirt (Monica Pavlik) of Twinsburg, Ohio, his cherished diva granddaughters, Katherine, Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Victoria, and treasured grandson, Jonah. Also surviving are his devoted sister, Anne (Emanuel) Kubasta of Bonita Springs, FL, his brother, Louis Luzar of Fort Myers Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Setting baseball records at Euclid High School and Lakewood Class A League, Ernie was signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball organization in June, 1953. He pitched in their Farm System for several years before injuring his arm. Drafted into the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he was stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico and Stuttgart, Germany. Returning to Cleveland in 1958, he held various positions in the construction, cable, and repair departments of Ohio Bell Telephone Company, retiring with 35 years of service. Family will receive friends, MONDAY, JUNE 16th FROM 3-8 P.M. AT THE BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 8592 DARROW ROAD, TWINSBURG, OH (1/2 MI. SO. OF I-480/RT. 91 EXIT) where services will be held, Tuesday, June 17th, 11:00 a.m. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery.
