Obituary

Frank Harman Rueter, a lifelong resident of Bedford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 84. He died at the Cleveland Veterans Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born on September 6, 1942, Frank was the cherished only child of the late Harold and Grace (Harman) Rueter. Growing up in Bedford, Frank developed a deep appreciation for his hometown and a strong, independent spirit. He served in the U.S. Army in Saigon during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969.

Frank spent the first part of his professional career focused on audio and electronics, retiring from Zorelco Limited in 1992. Following his lifelong passion for model railroading and trains of all sorts, he embarked on a second, 22-year career as the General Manager of Passenger Operations for the Ashtabula, Carson & Jefferson Railroad (AC&J) Scenic Line, a seasonal tourist excursion train operating out of Jefferson, Ohio. Those who knew Frank will remember him as a loyal and steadfast friend who brought warmth and intellect to every conversation. Frank was also a devoted caregiver to his elderly mother for many years. Though he deeply valued his independence, he greatly appreciated the close circle of neighbors and friends who became like family to him over the years.

Frank was preceded in death by his devoted parents. He is survived by an extended family of cousins, as well as friends, neighbors, and fellow train enthusiasts who will miss him.

A private graveside remembrance of Frank’s life was held on October 14, 2026, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio.
