George L. Wood, the eldest of four brothers was born on October 17, 1940, in Alabama to the late Freeman and Velma Wood.

During his youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.  He later became a member of The House of the Lord in Akron, Ohio.

He was educated in the Clay County public school system, graduating with a high school diploma.

George was united in marriage to Mary Collins in 1967.  From that union, they were blessed with two children, George Wood and Felicia (Wood) Harris, along with a grandchild, Makiyah Harris, of whom he was very proud.

George was devoted to his family, to whom he dedicated much of his time.

He retired from a utility company after 20 years of service as a serviceman specialist.

George completed his physical life on January 27, 2023, and was called to a peaceful rest.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, his children, his granddaughter, his brother, all his in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
