Helen H. Hardesty, age 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 1, 2025. She was born May 9, 1933, in Greensburg (Green), Ohio, to Grace and Thomas Houser and was a graduate of Green High School. In her early years, Helen enjoyed volunteering, singing on the radio, and was heavily involved with her community and church. Later on, Helen sought to attend the University of Akron where she earned a degree in computer programming. After her graduation, Helen went on to work for Roadway, as a computer programmer, where she retired from in 1994. During her retirement years, Helen was heavily involved in the upbringing of her two grandsons, Brandon and Christopher. She actively volunteered for their school functions, classroom activities, and attended all of their sporting and extracurricular events. Throughout Helen's life, she enjoyed reading, playing jigsaw and other puzzles, gardening, and truly loved baking. Most of all, Helen relished being in the company of her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; daughter, Theresa; brother; Richard; and sister, Anna Marie.
She is survived by her son, David; and grandsons, Brandon and Christopher.
Friends and family may attend a memorial service on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Chapel in Green located at 1800 Raber Rd, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. The service will begin at 5 PM with family and friends being received at 4:30 PM. Food will be provided after the service to further commemorate Helen's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Helen's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
