Helen Jean Polisena began her journey as Elena Gina Mastrocola on February 3, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, where she resided until moving to Walton Hills with her family. Today she is remembered as Helen, Auntie Helen, Grandma or GG.

Growing up in Cleveland, with her parents Frank and Susie Mastrocola, she was blessed with two older sisters, Tessie Yantorn and Anna Bystricky. In 1947 her family visited Casacalenda, Italy where she met the love of her life, Frank (Francesco) Polisena who serenaded her with his accordion and won her heart. The two shared their vows before the summer's end.

Blessed with four children, her family was the driving force of her life. Her children always came first. She treasured them and could not worry enough about each of them. She did enjoy her hobbies like painting and crocheting and she loved her flowers. But her true passions lied in the caring of her loved ones, supporting them in any way that she could.

Helen was a sensitive empathic person who was always aware of other's needs even without words spoken. Soft but strong, she blessed the world with her caring spirit.  She was the perfect host, lighting-up when guests arrived and always ensuring everyone had more than enough to eat.

A strong woman of faith and love, Helen will be missed dearly by the beautiful family she and Frank created.

Helen will be remembered by her sister, Tess Yantorn, her four children, Frank (Lynn) Polisena, Carl Polisena, Jeanmarie (Bruce) Jones, Lydia (Jim) Plescia, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hine Funeral Home in Twinsburg, Ohio from 10:00-11:30am with a service to follow. A luncheon will be held for those wishing to gather with family after the services.
