IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Allen
Anderson
January 8, 1946 – November 10, 2024
James Allen Anderson (Jan 8, 1946 - Nov 10, 2024)
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Allen Anderson, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov 10, 2024 at the age of 78. Born on Jan 8, 1946, in Jamestown, New York, to the late Rudolph and Kathryn Anderson (nee Hastings), James lived a life of dedication, service, and faith. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged, he came home and started his career as a firefighter, risking his life to protect and serve his community. He also worked as an ironworker, working on structures, as well as building lasting bonds with his colleagues.
A man of faith, James believed strongly in the power of prayer, kindness, and giving back. He was an active member of Riverwood Chapel, where he found strength and support, and where he shared his love of God with others.
Outside of his professional careers, James was an avid sports enthusiast. Whether watching a game, discussing strategies, or spending time on the golf course, he loved every opportunity to stay active and engaged. His passion for golf was well-known, and he found joy in both the challenge of the game and the camaraderie it brought. Many fond memories were made with friends and family on the greens, where his competitive spirit shone brightly, but his kindness and generosity were always at the forefront.
Above all, James was a devoted father and grandfather. His greatest joy was his family, and he took immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He taught them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and, most importantly, love. He was their rock, their mentor, and their greatest supporter.
James is survived by his wife Linda Anderson (nee Zirnfus); children James (Melissa) Anderson and Jennifer (James) Hogue; cherished grandchildren Madeline and Cale Anderson, Adam (Sharon), Nolan, and Grace Hogue, and great-grandson, Anderson Edward Hogue; siblings Patti Smith, Dennis Anderson, and Jack (Kathy) Anderson; and a host of extended family and dear friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Riverwood Chapel (1407 Fairchild Ave, Kent, OH 44240) on Saturday, Nov 23, 2024.
