James Earl Parsons, 81, of Macedonia, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2018.
Born October 6, 1936 in Edwight, West Virginia, he was the only son of the late Earl and Stollie Parsons. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his two sisters; Joann Harless and Betty Blankenship.
Growing up, Jim and his sisters would sing gospel on the local radio station, as well as in many churches in West Virginia and surrounding states. As a young man he joined the Army, and was stationed in Germany. After serving for two years, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, June (Campbell). Together they moved to Cleveland, Ohio to start their new life. Jim and June would go on to raise six children and be married for 61 years.
Jim is survived by his wife June, his six children Junetta (Rick) Dlugokecki, Angela (Mike) Carano, Carolyn (Junior) Colvin, Jimmy (Maria) Parsons, Regina (Ed) Wegryn and Elizabeth (Diego) Garcia; his 14 grandchildren: Sarah, Corey, Reilly, Amanda, Gina, Pete, Joey, Limeri, Giana, Liam, Tommy, Shelby, Lilly, Ian and 6 great grandchildren.
Jim was a steel worker, truck driver, freight handler, and owner of "Jim's Gulf" located in Broadview Heights, Ohio. He loved signing gospel, listening to Elvis, rooting for Cleveland sports, going to the beach, fishing and most of all caring for his wife, children and grandchildren.
Jim will be remember as a dedicated patriot, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Those that knew him know that he is in heaven belting out a gospel song in that baritone voice he will always be remembered for. May his soul rest in peace.
