Obituary

Janet Ann Wilson, 81, of Aurora, Ohio passed away after a lengthy illness on May 25, 2026. She was born on August 25, 1944, in Painesville, Ohio to the late Woodrow and Frances Gardner (nee Hubrath). Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otho “Bill” Wilson, her twin sister Joan Starkey and sister Connie Jones.

Jan will be dearly missed by her family. Beloved sister of Florence Mislosky and Kathaleen Bailey. Loving “Second Mom” to Rob (Von) Starkey, Shannon Starkey (Fred Chafin) and Shelly Gyurcsik (Dan). “Gram” to Diana Wilson, “Nana” to Anthony (Katie) Starkey, Kaden Starkey & Zayn Wilson. Incredible Aunt to Bernette Chlad (Bill) and Kim Pennington. Step mother to Marylin, Donnie, Patricia and Alesia. She had a host of extended family and dear friends.

Jan had a love of family. Family meant the world to her and she did everything she could to protect them. She enjoyed her time with family. She loved to go to stock car races with her sister Kate. If someone had a celebration, she made sure that she created something special for it. Whether it was baking the cake or cupcakes, or creating that something special project like a graduation cap or stuffed animal with dollar bills hanging from it. When you had a celebration, you knew she would have the extra-ordinary gift for you. She also knew how to throw a good party. In her younger years, if there was a party going on, it was sure to include Jan and Bill and normally they were the ones throwing it. Wherever she went, she brightened the room.

She was a caretaker. Always taking care of others and not worried about herself. In the time of need, she stepped in. She was brave. Taking on the caretaking of her beloved husband till the end because she truly took the “till death due us part” to heart.

She was a protector. She did not want to see her family hurt. She made sure her sister Florence was taken care of and kept a very close eye on her to make sure that she had everything she needed. She protected her family. She did not want to see them suffer even as she herself was suffering from cancer.

We can go on and on as to how wonderful, caring, compassionate and loving she was but it will never touch how important she was to her family. She was a one of a kind and there will never be another person that can take her place.

To the world she was just one person, but to one person, she was the world! They say nobody is irreplaceable, well they never met Janet Wilson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
