John E. Bodnar passed away on Sunday, July 5th at age 87. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara, and parents Cecelia and John. Loving father of Debbie Satola (Mike), Kathleen Szemenyei (Jim), John A. (fiancée Lisa), and Joseph E. (Pamela); cherished grandfather of ten and great grandfather of ten; brother of Sandra Brilla, Ann ‘Bootsie’ Moore; brother-in-law of Joseph Krall (Steve), John Krall (deceased), and Stephen Krall (deceased); father-in-law to Kathleen Bodnar, uncle and great uncle to many.

For most of his life, John worked at an architecture firm, doing measurements and designing stonework and windows on buildings throughout the country. He was especially proud of his work in Cleveland and would point out his projects on drives around the city. He was a proud honorary member of the Ground Observer Corps. John was a dedicated family man and was especially delighted by the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, often sharing them with anyone who would listen. He loved gardening, long drives with his wife to Maine, watching cranes, Turner Classic Movies, reading, and telling stories about his wily youth. John was a welcoming presence and deeply loved.
