John H. Stephan, Sr. of Aurora Ohio passed away January 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Hillcrest Hospital. He was a kind, generous and compassionate person who was born on December 17, 1929 to Katharine (Schwinn) and Hallis Noah Stephan in Cleveland Ohio. Devoted husband to Loretta (nee Fleischer) for sixty yearsthey were high school sweethearts. He was very proud of his loving children Jennifer Sroub (Brian Sroub), John Jr. (Kim Kosits) and dear grandchildren Wesley Sroub (deceased) Katharine and Jackson Sroub as well as John and Kim''s children, Reid and Cole Stephan. He was also the dear brother-in-law and friend of Betty Brown (Chuck Sanguedolce). Loving Uncle of Dorene Sweet, Michelle Korb and Jim Brown. He will be missed by his loving dog, Lily. John graduated from Shaw High School in 1948. He received a Bachelor''s degree in Business from Baldwin Wallace College were he was member and Treasurer of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He also graduated in 1954 from Carnegie Mellon University with a Mechanical Engineering degree where he was a member of the Order of the May Society. He served as President of Lucas Machine Division of Litton Industries where he had worked for thirty six years in Cleveland, Ohio. He started as a mechanical engineer then was promoted to VP and General Manager and achieved the position of President for fourteen years before retiring. John held memberships in the Cleveland Engineering Society, Clevelander Club, Society of Manufacturing, Greater Cleveland Growth Association, Mentor Harbor Yachting Club and Pine Lake Trout Club. He enjoyed reminiscing about the dairy farm his parents owned in Burton, Ohio for thirty years which was operated by a succession of Amish families. He was a member of the Church in Aurora where arrangements are forthcoming John''s family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Kensington Care of Anna Maria who assisted him in a very kind manner for the last fourteen months.
