JON ALOIS SCHOENING was Mary's devoted husband for thirty-five years, proud father of Annie and Rich, brother of Ellen, Steve, and Niles (deceased), "Uncle Nutsky" to his tribe of nieces and nephews and a good friend to many.
Jon was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 15, 1955 and moved to Solon, Ohio with his family in 1995 and became "Mr. Mom." While you can take the boy out of the South, no one could ever take the South out of the boy. Proud of his southern roots, Jon was a lover of history, music and sports with an encyclopedic knowledge that he loved to share. A natural storyteller, Jon regaled family and friends with stories infused with interesting facts, wisdom and a wry sense of humor. Jon was also a natural drummer and played in bands in Louisville and his Solon neighborhood.
Jon's family wishes to thank the many friends and family for their support throughout Jon's illness and especially thank the wonderful team with the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Two celebrations of Jon's life will be held: one in Solon this week and another in Louisville, KY at a future date to be announced. For information about the memorial celebrations, please email jon.memorial@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, please express sympathy with a donation in Jon's name to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
