Joseph Jack Budz, age 83, of Bellevue, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025.
Joseph was born on June 9, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph and Irene Budz. He grew up in northern Ohio and spent most of his life on the water as a charter captain on Lake Erie. Fishing was both his livelihood and his passion, and he was known for his strong work ethic, steady nature, and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. If something needed to be built or repaired, he was the first to step in.
Joseph was never quiet, and that was part of what made him who he was. His voice carried through every room and every boat dock. He spoke loudly, laughed loudly, and you always knew exactly where he stood. His volume was simply his way of caring fiercely and living fully, and anyone who knew him will smile at how true that is. When he said he was proud of someone, it was genuine, and those moments were deeply felt by the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, George Westrich. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Budz; his sons, Joseph A. (Anne-Frances) Budz and David (Melanie) Budz; and his grandchildren, Dominick, Sienna, and Baylee Budz; Jennifer, Justin, Jessica, and Dylan Kilgore; and Stephanie, Eric, and Melanie Westrich. He is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
