Obituary

Kimberly Amsdell, 48, of 326 Oak Grove Street, Oil City, died after a one-year battle with Ovarian Cancer.  She died at her sister's home in Twinsburg, Ohio, with family by her side.  She fought hard against this cancer, returning to work while undergoing chemotherapy and finding herself very physically and emotionally drained, but continued to assist and support the people of her community.

Born November 18, 1971, in Oil City, to the late Harry V. and Barbara L. Hartle Amsdell.  She was the baby of their 9 children.

Kim attended Oil City Senior High School and, also, briefly attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania.  Her calling, though, was serving the community as a Police Communications Operator, and spent over 20 years with the Pennsylvania State Police, mostly at the Franklin Barracks.  She took her job very seriously and was 100% committed to always assuring that her communications kept both the troopers and the community as safe as possible.

"Berly", as she was fondly nicknamed, loved to have fun events with her family and loved to shop.  With almost 70 nieces and nephews, greats and great-greats, there was always a fun event for her to be at.  She also was a big fan of some reality shows that always made her laugh.  A fun fact about Berly was that she was one of a list of 150 people who were to be the next contestants for the famed TV show,  Jeopardy.  We always wondered where she got her knowledge of Shakespeare and Copernicus.

Kim is survived by her brothers and sister, Victor Amsdell (Kathy) of Russell, Ken Amsdell (Theresa) of Cherry Tree, Daryl Amsdell of Oil City, Kevin Amsdell (Linda) of Texas, Vicky Amsdell-DePiore (John) of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Mark Amsdell (Beth) of Arizona.  She is also survived by the love of her life, her little Pug, Lucy.

In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Tom and her sister, Brenda.

There will be no public viewing or visitation, but a large and fun Celebration of Life will be held in her honor in the May or June timeframe.  She wanted a big party in the nice weather…and that it will be.

Thanks goes out to the Hospice of the Western Reserve (Ohio) for the kindness and consideration in assisting Kim with her quiet and respectful passing and helping the family through this difficult time.

Internment of her cremations will be at Calvary Cemetery in Oil City at a later date.
