Laverne Moore was born February 9, 1936, to the union of Porter and Efola Barnes ( Ray ). She was one of five children. Three Brothers, John Hannah, Lamar Barnes, and Clarence Barnes. One sister Janice Barnes. All preceded her in death.

She was a student in the Cleveland public school systems as well as attending John Adams High School. Soon after finishing school she met and married Paul Newton and they resided in the Maple Hts., Ohio community. To this Union were born, Paul Newton Jr.,a.k.a..(Ali Asad), Rodney Newton, a.k.a.(Obadiah Obeah), David Newton ( deceased ) triplets Jean, Jan, and Joan Newton. Who passed away at birth.

Soon the couple built a home in Twinsburg, Ohio and the family relocated. After several years of marriage, Paul and Laverne divorced.  She later married Charles Moore,(deceased).

Laverne loved her children and family. She loved hosting holiday gatherings,  was an extraordinary cook,  and seamstress.. She was also passionate about traveling, sharing her adventures, and life experiences with others. She was a proud employee of General Electric Company and worked there until retirement

She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended St John AME, Cleveland Ohio  Mount Moriah of Maple Hts, Ohio, Mount Olive in Twinsburg Hts., Ohio. And was active in various auxiliaries in the church when she was in attendance.

Laverne peacefully transitioned on April 25, 2021,  after battling kidney failure. She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Paul Newton Jr, and Rodney Newton. Stepdaughter Sharon Moore, Pruiett. Grandchildren, Kendra, Sharika, Aisha, Devin, and Ashley Newton. Freda Barnes sister-in-law,. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
