Obituary

Leonard "Leo" Crist Chervenic, 96, of Silver Lake Village, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Leo's life was marked by dedication, to his family, his work, and the values he carried with him through a long and well‑lived life.

Born on September 18, 1929, in Akron Ohio, Leo was the son of Michael and Ida Chervenic. From humble beginnings, he built a life with integrity, hard work, and purpose. Following his early education, he proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War, an experience that instilled in him lifelong discipline and gratitude for every opportunity life presented.

After returning home, Leo began what would be an extraordinary 71 year marriage to his beloved wife, Geneva. Together, they created a partnership grounded in mutual respect, deep faith, laughter, and unwavering love. Their bond was a testament to lasting commitment, and together they raised five children.

Professionally, Leo began his career as an Engineer at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him, alongside Geneva, to establish Geneva Chervenic Realty in 1973. In 2009 the company franchised with Keller Williams Realty, merging the local Geneva Chervenic Realty with the national brand. This merger was a perfect match because both companies shared the same values: God first, family, then business. Through this endeavor, Leo, Geneva, and their children were truly blessed as KW Chervenic Realty grew to 400 agents with 7 offices serving Northeast Ohio.

Outside of his professional achievements, Leo was an avid golfer and long standing member of Silver Lake Country Club. His love of dogs over the years will be remembered with Susie, Jocko, Virgil, Roxy, Romeo and Poppy.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Leo experienced his depth of knowledge. He was the consummate teacher, entrepreneurial motivator, visionary, mentor, golf coach and financial advisor. His sense of humor was second to none. He will be remembered for always telling a great joke! A man of quiet strength and generous heart, Leo Chervenic will be remembered for the life he built, the love he shared, and the example he set for all who follow. His legacy will carry on in the family he cherished, the faith in God he shared and the community he helped shape.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ida Chervenic; his sister, Bernice Novak; and his brothers, Clayton and Roy Chervenic, and his grandson Joshua Parker. He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Phil) Lantry, David (Chrissy) Chervenic, Jana Chervenic (Tom Leeser), Linda Chervenic, and Laurie Chervenic (Nick Greco).  Grandchildren; Julia Lantry, Neil Lantry, Brooke (Ricky) Simonelli, Brent (Caryanne) Chervenic, Jenna (Jake) Correll, Sarah (Clay) King, Jesse Sloan, Brandy Sloan, Olivia Sloan, Austin Ferraro, and Jacob Parker. Great Grandchildren: Selah, Jeremiah, Jayden, Alayna, Haley, Chloe, Ricardo, Nico, Luka, Ella, and Jack.

Arrangements to celebrate Leo's life will be announced at a later date. His family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in every story told, every memory shared, and every heart he touched.
