Margaret Quantick Talsma, 87, of Bainbridge Township, Ohio, passed away on August 8, 2016. She was born in Plymouth, England in 1928 and graduated from Tavistock Grammar School, which she liked to say was the same school that Sir Francis Drake had attended. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1952 and met her future husband, Herbert Talsma, while working for DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. Margaret and Herbert had two children and lived for a while in both England and Spain. In 1966, they returned to this country and in 1971, the entire family became naturalized U.S. citizens.
Over her lifetime, Margaret had been a secretary, hairdresser, and homemaker, who enjoyed knitting and bridge, and entertaining friends and family. She volunteered for the Christ Child Society and was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and the Gourmet Club in Tanglewood. Every summer she returned to Plymouthfirst by oceanliner and later on some of the first trans-Atlantic flightsto visit her parents, Mabel and Owen Vernon Quantick and her two younger brothers, David (Mavis) and Barrie (Margaret) Quantick, and their families.
She was a loving wife to Herbert Talsma, mother to Jacqueline (Richard) Deger and Julia (Ben) Kotowski, grandmother to Beth (Zac) Kohl, Christy (Casey Wisniewski) Deger, Tim Kotowski and Anna Kotowski, and great-grandmother to Parker Kohl and Beckett Kohl.
