Marilyn Louise DeYonge (nee Gainer), 83, of Akron, passed away Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 at Stow Glen Retirement Village after battling Covid-19.

She was born in Akron and attended North High School, graduating in  1955. Throughout her lifetime she worked as a switchboard operator and receptionist.

Marilyn enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning, music (especially smooth jazz), and singing. She sang solos for many weddings and participated in various choirs in her lifetime. She enjoyed a good joke and had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Greg) McKee, Kellee (Greg) Soldierson, step son Randy, sister, Peggy (Bob) Marsico, grandchildren, Chelsea McKee, Kaitlyn McKee, Kristen Soldierson, Brian Soldierson, Joanna Jones, Renee Kaiser, David McGraw, Jennifer Lukacs, Melissa Wooten, nephew Mark (Samantha) Gainer, great grandchildren Calvin and Kollin and great grand dog, LittleMan, who brought her so much joy.

Also survived by loving companion, Ron Nelson, who cared for her so well.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene DeYonge in 2013, parents, Kenneth Gainer, Hazel Moon, (nee Robinson), step son Jerry, step daughters Linda Young, Barbara McGraw, grandson Jeffrey Young and infant son Alan Thomas Walter.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
