Mark Benin, 85, of Twinsburg, passed away on June 21, 2026. He was born on March 23, 1941, in Kyiv, Ukraine, to Samuel and Lara (Piyevskaya) Benin.
Born in Kyiv during World War II, Mark grew up in Soviet Ukraine during a period of great hardship and change. Despite these early challenges, he found success in whatever he put his mind to. He obtained his master’s degree in engineering, focusing on radio-electrical engineering, and later taught in the field and published several technical books on the subject. He also owned and operated UkrRadio Services, a successful electronics repair business. He was later awarded a medal for his service during the cleanup of Chernobyl, instructing others on the use of Geiger counters and managing their repairs while onsite.
At home, Mark was rarely idle, often keeping his hands and mind busy with work, repairs, and small projects. He held a deep appreciation for classical music, literature, and poetry. Above all, he cherished spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Galina (Utsekha) Benin; sons, Alex Benin and his partner, Lera, and Bogdan M. Benin and his wife, Aylin Crugnale; and nephews, Alex and Victor Benin. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roman Benin.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Mark will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
