Mary Flight, 99, of Rocky River, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 3, 2026. She was born on March 16, 1927, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to the late Michael and Julia Krivka (née Malesh). Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Flight; her parents; and her siblings, Ann, Michael, and Helen.
Mary will be dearly missed by her family. Loving mother of Janet (Edwin) Yoder, Daniel (Paula) Flight, and Karen (William) Weis; cherished grandmother of Lynn (Harlan) Campbell, Denise Yoder (Peter Eales), Katie (Brendan) Kirchner, Amy (Scott) Gallagher, Jacob (Allison) Flight, Alyssa Weis (Adam Martin), Laura Weis, Scott Weis, Hayley (Michael) O’Neil, and Tevy Weis (Hunter Chipley); dear great-grandmother of Ada, Jackson, Caroline, Hayleigh, Sloane, Reagan, Bennett, Jaidyn, Carson, and Parker; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Mary lived a long, active, and fulfilling life, finding joy in family, friendships, and the many interests she pursued throughout the years. Her faith was an important foundation throughout her life, providing strength, comfort, and guidance through both life's joys and challenges. She lived her beliefs through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
She was a voracious reader who rarely went without a book, often finishing one each week. Her curiosity and love of learning stayed with her throughout her life. She was also a devoted Cleveland sports fan. Whether cheering for the Indians, Browns, or Cavaliers, Mary followed her teams with remarkable dedication. Family members often joked that while most people simply read the sports section of The Plain Dealer, Mary studied it. She knew players' statistics, tracked team performance, and took a genuine interest in the lives and stories of the athletes she followed.
Mary also had a special gift for gardening. Her beautiful flower beds, carefully cultivated with colorful annuals and perennials, were admired by friends, neighbors, and anyone fortunate enough to pass by. Her green thumb transformed ordinary spaces into vibrant gardens that reflected her patience, care, and appreciation for life's simple beauties.
Above all, Mary will be remembered for her love of family, her enduring curiosity, her warm spirit, and the example she set through a life well lived. She leaves behind generations of family members who were blessed by her love, wisdom, and presence and who will carry her memory with them always.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.
