MURIEL H. JONES (Middelton), age 95, of Willoughby, entered into rest January 31, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Harold; loving mother of Lynn Jones and Kathleen Ann Jones Dudchenko; devoted grandmother of six and great grandmother of 16; dear sister of Shirley Doyle and Dr. George F. (Amy) Hatch. Preceded in death by her daughter Judith Leslie Zopp and her daughter-in-law Lois Ann Jones.
Mrs. Jones was born in 1918 in London, England during an air raid. Her father, George Hatch, was a WWI fighter pilot and her mother, Edith Hatch, was a nurse in a hospital in France, where they met. Mrs. Jones arrived in Canada at the age of 2, and shortly thereafter the family moved to the United States.
Mrs. Jones served for eighteen years in various capacities at the Cleveland Foundation before retiring in 1986 as an Administrative Assistant to the Director. Mrs. Jones was active in the Women''s City Club and was Chairperson of the 65th Anniversary Celebration of the Women''s'' City Club. In addition, she served in 1975 as the Co-Chair of the "Women''s'' Year 1975" observance which was attended by the First Lady, Betty Ford and other dignitaries.
She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
