Nellie P. Cooper, was born on November 4, 1926 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 14, 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar L. Cooper in 2015 and her son David L. Cooper in 1972.
She leaves behind her daughter, Toni R Cooper, Angela M. Cooper, and son Al T. Cooper. Four grandchildren, Ashley C. Hunter, Michael D. Cooper, Markeisha A. Cooper, Tavon A. Cooper and three great grandchildren, Jaydian T. Cooper, Carson D. Cooper, Jeremyah A. Cooper, and host of friends and family.
Nellie and her sister Vivian Avery were born to Robert Avery and Pauline Parker in Morganton, North Carolina. Nellie and Vivian later moved to Boston MA to be raised by their uncle George Parker. While living in Boston, Nellie enjoyed sewing and designing outfits with Vivian. Nellie loved to dance and she specialized in ballet. She worked at the Harriett Tubman house in Boston and took on several jobs before meeting Cooper (Oscar).
Cooper and Nellie married on July 3, 1949 and moved to Cleveland Ohio to start their family. While in Cleveland, Nellie was a dedicated homemaker to her husband and children. Nellie loved children so some of her hobbies included babysitting the neighbor children and opening her home to foster children. She loved gardening and sitting on her patio enjoying nature and listening to music which included her favorite singer Johnny Mathis. Some of her hobbies also included, thrift shopping and visiting yard sales. Nellie became a member at Lee-Seville Baptist Church and was later called to become a Jehovah Witness where she spread her learnings to others.
Long known for her caring personality, kind heart, and impeccable sense of style. Nellie saw the good in everyone she met. She took pride in her family and loved them dearly.
