Phillip B Keller, 84, of Hudson, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, Ohio on December 2, 1938 to the late E. Dwight and Arriette Keller (nee Trigg).
Phil grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1957. He went on to attend The Ohio State University. After graduating from the College of Optometry, Phil served in the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. He came to Hudson in 1967 to set up an optometry practice on the advice of his brother-in-law, who was a graduate of Western Reserve Academy. As an optometrist, he served many residents and friends of the community for 33 years. He retired from optometry in 2000 but continued his involvement in Hudson by working for the Hudson Parks for the next twenty years. Phil was an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron where he built many friendships and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a member of Hudson Rotary and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Akron. When Phil was not at home in Hudson, he could often be found fishing the back channels of the Georgian Bay in Ontario or playing cards with loved ones on the sandy beaches of Siesta Key.
Phil touched many lives while living and practicing in Hudson for 56 years. He was grateful for his family and friends, however, he cherished nothing more than being the beloved Papa to his 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His warm heart, sense of humor and contagious laugh will be missed by all.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Seckerson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kristine; loving sons, Bruce (Kaysi) Keller, Bill (Amy) Keller, and Cory (Christine) Keller; cherished grandchildren: Charlie Keller, Lily Keller, Maddie Keller, Sophie Keller, Lauren Keller, John (Myhgail) Keller, Sam (Emily) Keller, Sarah Keller, Jillian Keller, Mary Keller, and Nathan Keller; dear great-grand-children: Jaxon, Ava, Myles and Norah; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on December 9, 2023 at 10am at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends of Hudson Parks.
