Ruth Esther Butler, 96, surrounded by her family, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 30, 2025. She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 7, 1928, to the late Elmer Martin and Ruth Esther Goodwin (nee Keevan). For almost her entire life Ruth resided in a small house in Munroe Falls, Ohio that her father had begun building by hand digging and constructing a basement house during the depression. It was finished some thirty years later by her husband with the help of family and friends, and the house became a home as she raised her family. Ruth attended the Southeast Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Milton L. Butler, her parents and eight siblings.

Ruth went to great lengths to avoid being the center of attention because she believed she was not worthy.  The center of her interest and activity always was the wellbeing of each member of her family: daughters Wandis Butler who lived with her for over 76 years, and Janice(Steve) Rogers of Connecticut; sons D. Martin (Ruth) Butler of Kansas, Thomas (Janet) Butler and Kelvin Butler of Ohio, and Dale (Michelle) Butler of Colorado.  Her cherished grandchildren Heather (Rich) Vogler, Jennifer Rogers, Ryan (Bethany) Butler, Byron (Jennifer) Butler, Cassie Lockard, Brian Butler, Kennedy Butler, Austin (Emily) Butler, Caleb (Victoria) Butler, Hannah Butler, and 13 great-grandchildren occupied a very special place in her heart. Each member of her family and her friends were assured of Ruth's bountiful love and prayers. She will be deeply missed. We who survive her count ourselves most blessed and thank God for his precious gift of Ruth Esther Butler.

Visitation at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in her memory may be made to the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 771 Dunbar Road, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
