Obituary

In Loving Memory of Salvatore G. Calo

Salvatore G. Calo, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Ohio, was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, and friend to many. Born and raised in Cleveland, Salvatore was one of three sons born to Salvatore and Derna Calo, who instilled in him the values of family, hard work, and love.

Salvatore shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Frances Calo. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and lasting memories. He was a proud father to his daughter, Dawn, and his son, Tony Calo, and a loving grandfather to Matthew Calo and Brandon Calo, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his two brothers, Dennis and Phillip Calo, along with extended family members and many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Salvatore spent an impressive 44 years working for Giant Eagle grocery stores, where he served as a crew boss. He took great pride in his work and genuinely cared for the people he worked alongside and those he supervised. His commitment, leadership, and the relationships he built throughout his career were an important part of his life. To Salvatore, his coworkers were more than just people he worked with; they were people he valued and enjoyed spending time with.

Outside of work, Salvatore had a passion for hot rod cars, racetracks, and car shows. He loved the excitement of seeing beautiful cars and enjoyed sharing that enthusiasm with others. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially all of his beloved dogs, who brought him companionship and happiness.

Salvatore appreciated life’s simple pleasures, particularly good Italian food. He treasured his mother’s homemade pizza and loved pasta, meals that represented the comfort, tradition, and family connections he held dear.

One of Salvatore’s most memorable qualities was his love of conversation. He enjoyed talking with people, sharing stories, and making connections wherever he went. He truly never met a stranger. His outgoing personality, friendly spirit, and ability to make others feel welcome left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Salvatore will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of family, passion for cars, affection for animals, and the genuine warmth he shared with others. His life was filled with meaningful relationships, treasured traditions, and countless memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the friendships he formed, and the memories he created will remain a lasting part of his family’s story.

May Salvatore G. Calo rest in eternal peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
