The Hutchins/Anderson/Alexander Families

(Michelle Anderson, Daughter)

My mom,

Mom always wanted to have children, my dad maybe not so much- but knew how important it was for her. When my dad found out he was sterile, they decided to adopt. One day my mom was approached by a co-worker, who knew an 18 yr. old girl who was looking for someone to take care of her baby.

My mom and dad went through with the lawyers and adopted me before I was even born, and on July 13, 1969 they brought all 5 pounds of me home. My mom told me I was adopted before I even really knew what the word meant- I never felt adopted, I just felt I was theirs. She loved me, yelled at me, was happy for me and at times sad for me during difficult times- all the things that moms do I suppose.

She loved to cook, sew, SHOP and probably most of all she loved TV. We watch sports (we were both avid Boston Celtic fans),our favorite show was M.A.S.H- so many tears and laughs we experience together watching that show.

She was a dedicated R.N. for over 50 years, she patched me up and knew even before the doctors did what to do. She went to my basketball games, my softball games and listened to me play my clarinet horribly.

She was stubborn, too smart for her own good and definitely opinionated- our family conversation over dinner where very "lively" sometimes. She loved her parents and her sister Jay- she loved being half Swedish and constantly reminded me that she was a flicka, which was girl in Swedish and dad was a pojke, which was a boy.

I could go on and on with stories, but the moral of this story is that she just loved- regardless of the fact I wasn't  technically "blood" she always loved me like her own. She taught me so many things in life, and I have a lifetime of  memories of love she gave me. I will miss her immensely, but will carry on with love. I will forever be blessed to be part of  her life and legacy, and at peace knowing she is with the love of her life forever.

Sandy Hutchins….

My mom worked hard to give us all we could need from working full-time, cooking us meals, and taking us around to all of our events and activities. Sundays where her day to drink a beer over 4hrs, watch sports, and knock out laundry. But if we needed something, she would still make it happen.

She loved to sew, crochet, knit, making jewelry, taking photos (of everything!), cooking, playing the piano, home sports teams, and reading…lots of reading. I'm not sure what Danielle Steel or Tom Clancy or James Patterson will do without her.

As life went on and her hands started to slow, she became an avid watcher of all crime shows on the "Idiot Box" which was her way of saying the television. CSI, NCIS, Blue Bloods, Law & Order, and so on…knowing she had to of seen every episode at least 5 times over.

I know from the stories and watching my father and mother over the years that they truly loved their family and friends. There was never a time I could think of that if I called, they weren't there. Always ready to have my family over for dinner or meet a favorite restaurant of theirs, or just to simply play a game or watch my kids on a slip-and-slide outside.

I'm happy for her to be able to re-join my father and her parents and while I miss her deeply, I can't wait to see her again.
