In Loving Memory of Scott James Harris
Scott James Harris, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2026.
Scott was the beloved son of the late Richard and Mary Jean (née Hahn) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Nordstrom (Brian), who passed away in December 2025.
Scott is survived by his daughters, Francesca (Thomas) and Ariana (Jaden); and his beloved granddaughter, Evelyn "Evie," who brought an entirely new kind of joy into his life.
Scott is also survived by his brothers, John (Ginny) and David (Jen) ; Scott was also a cherished uncle to Josh (Kelly); and Rex (Erica), Rachel (Jason); Dillon (Allissa), Rick, Tracy (Bob); Brian (Michelle); and a great-uncle to Peyton, Piper, Scotty (Denise), Hunter(Summer), Gabe, Hannah (Justin), Nellie, Rocco, Gus, Kaden, Renner, Becca (Gaven), and Jackie, even great-great uncle to William, Hunter, and Van.
If you knew Scott, chances are you heard him before you saw him.
Scott had a personality that could fill a room. He was outgoing, larger than life, and never short on something to say, a story to tell, or a reason to make people laugh. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and there was never much question about how Scott felt—he lived life loudly and loved just as loudly.
Scott was an incredibly talented chef, and food was one of the many ways he shared himself with others. For the last 10+ years of his life, Scott worked at Mavis Winkles, a place that became so much more than a restaurant to him. The Mavis family became an extension of his own family and held an incredibly special place in his heart. The friendships, memories, laughter, and countless hours spent there were a meaningful part of Scott's life.
But put a microphone in his hand, and you saw another side of him come alive.
Music was a huge part of Scott's life. Throughout the years, he was the lead singer of several classic rock cover bands and loved being on stage. A devoted classic rock fan who idolized Steven Tyler, Scott was happiest when he could sing, entertain a crowd, and share his love of music with everyone around him.
Over the course of his life, Scott collected almost as many nicknames as he did stories. Depending on when and how you knew him, he might have been Scotty, Skippy, Scooter, Hairball, Scotty-O, or Daddio.
But the two names that came to mean the most were simply Dad and Grandpa.
Scott was incredibly excited to become a grandfather. His love for little Evie was unmistakable, and he looked forward to watching her grow, celebrating her milestones, and being part of it all.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to honor Scott to consider contributing toward Evie's future. Becoming her Grandpa brought Scott tremendous happiness, and helping provide opportunities and security for her as she grows is a meaningful way to carry his love and legacy forward. https://gofund.me/b8769f6c9
