Obituary

Akron, OH - Stanley Belding Graham, 91, passed away May 5, 2020 at Summa Akron Hospital after succumbing to a combination of infections and respiratory issues related to COVID-19. He was born May 17, 1928, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Luther Marion Graham and Ida Mae Appleby (Belding).

Stanley graduated in 1946 from Rowe High School (Conneaut, OH) and was drafted shortly thereafter into the US Army. He served his country until 1950, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military duty, he attended The Ohio State University on the GI Bill. While there, he earned his BA in English, graduating from the College of Arts & Sciences in 1954. Stanley was an avid reader and scientist, always pursing his quest for knowledge. He routinely took summer classes & worked on research projects to further his education, completing master's degree from Wesleyan University in 1969.

Stanley taught high school science for 35 years, spending the majority of his career at Medina High School.

In 1962, he married Cynthia Ann Davis, and they were together for 29 years until Cynthia's death in 1991. Following his first marriage, Stanley married Elizabeth (Menges) Ramirez in 1992 and was by her side for 17 years until her passing in 2009.

In retirement, Stanley was a self-published author, loosely basing his books off of his life experiences. Stanley also loved to travel alongside his wife, Betty, and they visited several states and European countries during their time together.

Stanley is survived by his brother, Calvin (Laurie Savran) Appleby; nephew, Kevin Appleby; sons, Jeff (Kim) Graham, Doug (Kim) Graham; and step-children, Elizabeth Murvine, Bill (Bess) Ramirez, Victor (Laurie) Ramirez and Art (Linda) Ramirez. He was grandfather to Madison, Ryan, Tyler, Caitlyn, Emily, and Ethan and step-grandfather to Mike (Krista), Bill (Jenna), Michelle (Brad), Richard (Dawn), Gina, Kellie, and Jeremy. He was also a step-great grandfather of eight. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Graham.

Stanley's family would like to thank Brookdale Medina North, Heritage of Hudson, and Summa Health Akron Hospital ICU. They would also like to extend their deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the entire team at Summa Akron Palliative & Hospice for their dedication, kindness, and exceptional care.
