Susan Lee Zelenka, 73, of Solon, Ohio
Surrounded by family, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2024.
Sue will be deeply missed by her family. She was the beloved wife of 30 years of Gerald Zelenka; loving mother of Noel (Jennifer) Maiden, Megan (William) Shaffer, Mark (Hollie) Zelenka, Brian (Rhonda) Zelenka, and Eric (Karen) Zelenka; cherished grandmother of Ian, Mia, Alexis, Harper, Madison, Olivia, Abigail, Aiden, Natalie, Isabella, and Nicholas; dear sister of Karen (Greg); and many extended family and dear friends.
Sue was born in Lakewood, Ohio on February 11, 1950, to the late James and Virginia Gray (nee DeLong). She graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to have a long and successful career in the insurance industry. She was licensed in multiple states and provided personnel insurance coverage for her clients. Sue received many rewards and recognition and always strived to provide the "best" solution to protect her clients assets. She gained their respect and their loyalty because of this. Sue married Gerald on February 20, 1993. Together they blended their family's and welcomed their 11 grandchildren. They shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
Sue was a woman of grace and dignity. She loved being a wife and mother but most of all a grandmother. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren whether it be sharing a meal or at a recital, a game or traveling to visit those out of town. She was also an avid animal lover. Sue rescued and spoiled many animals of her own as well as all of her grand-animals over the years. Sue never met a stranger and had the gift of gab. Sue was the epitome of the phrase "she'd give you the shirt off her back". She loved antiques, cooking and a good Bloody Mary with an olive. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday and we are so grateful to have had one last one together. We all have fond memories of her, one of her most recent favorites was walking in Chagrin Falls, feeding the ducks and stopping in the ice cream shop with their youngest grandchild. How lucky we are to have been touched by someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.
Visitation and funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Crown Hill Funeral Home, Mausoleum Chapel, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087. Visitation 10am – 12pm. Service at 12 pm.
