Ute was born on August 8 th 1942 during WWII in Biebelnheim, Germany. This was a challenging time that forced the resilience and ability to make the best of any situation that continued to be a guiding quality throughout her life. She had a zest for life and loved people. When she was young, she was part of a rowing team where she would forever have memories of comradery, teamwork, travel and celebrations. As a young woman, she moved to Munich to become an aesthetician. It would always remain her favorite city in the world and it is the city she met and fell in love with Henry, who became her husband of 53 years. They married and had their daughter Tina in 1968.
Two years later, Henry's work took them to Houston, Texas. She moved without knowing the language, but with her bravery, her two year old daughter, and her palpable charm, she attracted a community of friends and established a life and a home. For ten years she embraced a blend of her own German Culture and the unique culture that is Texas with a loving open-hearted spirit and they loved her back.
In 1980, Henry's work brought him to the Cleveland Clinic, so once again, Ute moved the family and created a home with grace and beauty. She loved sharing what she had and entertaining, bringing her unique flair and elegance to whatever she did. She was always a deeply compassionate person and found a way to help people by using her expertise in skin care for postoperative patients. She found that while she was helping them care for their skin, that she ended up being caring presence in their lives on a level that was so much more than skin deep.
In retirement, her life was about the way she loved and her family were the fortunate recipients of this love. She was the life of the party and the kind of person everyone noticed when she walked into a room. She was glamorous, elegant, compassionate, loving, fierce, determined, and beautiful inside and out. She loved yellow roses, fast cars, animals, ocean views, champagne, chocolate, shoes, laughter, dancing, parties and most of all her family. On December 24 th 2020 she left this earth after struggling for four years with Alzheimers. She is survived by her husband Henry, her daughter Tina and her son-in-law whom she adored, Deepak. She is deeply missed but her life is a testament to living and loving with all that she had.
