Obituary

WALTER R DOERING, 95, of Cleveland, OH, died March 23, 2010 in his home with his son, Russell by his side. Russell was his care provider in his final days with Hospice. Walter was born December 24, 1914, the son of the late Frank and Lena (Kessler) Doering in Cleveland, OH. Walter is also preceded in death by his angel in heaven infant daughter, Sally Irene Doering; his infant twin siblings, a baby sister Elinor, his brother Frank (Martha) Doering and sister Lillian (Stanley) Walden, and Ruth (Edward) Mercier. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Grace (Burns) Doering, a brother William (Bill) Doering, his four children, Walter (Butch) Doering and loving friend Marilyn Sandahl, San Diego, CA, Jeannette Sproul, Uniontown, PA, Linda (Richard) Kraniske, Parma OH and Russell Doering, Geneva, OH; twelve grandchildren whom he loved and enjoyed visiting, Nancy Inman of Mentor, OH, William (Jorj) Unger, Mentor, OH and Autumn (Chad) Herwehe, of San Diego, CA, also Autumn's mother who loved him as her own father and Autumn's sister Angela (James) Taylor of Los Angeles, CA, Kenneth (Lisa Jo) Sproul, Pittsburgh. PA, Kevin (Lisa) Sproul, Brier Hill, PA, Keith (Kimberlee) Sproul, Farmington, PA, Lisa Kraniske, Kent, OH, Glenn (Tina) Kraniske, Medina, OH, Katherine Kraniske (Chris Demand) and Jeannette Kraniske all of Cleveland, OH; Leanne (David) Heckel, Madison, OH, and Samantha Doering of Geneva, OH. He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, all of whom will miss him terribly. Also surviving are many of his nieces, nephews and friends. Walter was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy as a MACHINIST MATE 3RD CLASS "LIGHTER THAN AIR CORP." from1943 to1945 During WWII. He and his wife loved to travel out West and for a time had a vacation home and other properties in St. Petersburg, FL. He was an unpretentious man who loved to help his many friends and family and will be missed by all who knew him. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS THURSDAY MARCH 25 FROM 2-4 P.M. AND 7-9 P.M. AT THE BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 8592 DARROW RD., TWINSBURG, OH (1/2 MILE S. of 1-480 Rt. 91 EXIT) where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday March 26. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his name be made to your favorite charity.
