Obituary

Bill Hoffman, age 92, of Twinsburg, Ohio, passed away on September 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, humor and a stubborn streak that those who loved him wouldn't have traded for anything.

Born in Cleveland as one of seven children, Bill grew up learning the value of hard work, loyalty, and a quick wit—skills that carried him through life and helped shape the man everyone came to know and love. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, where his journey took him across the ocean to England. It was there that he met his match (and lifelong partner in mischief), Barbara Vivienne Cumming Hoffman. The two built a marriage filled with love, laughter and the kind of playful banter that set the tone for their family.

After his time in the service, Bill came home and dedicated decades to his community as an Auxiliary Police Officer, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant. He had a strong sense of duty, a deep respect for fairness, and just enough orneriness to make his family and friends smile even on the toughest days.

Though preceded in death by his beloved wife and all six of his siblings, Bill remained the proud patriarch of his family. He leaves behind his children: Lynn Hoffman, Jim Hoffman, Beth (Gary) Heus and Steven (Dana) Hoffman; grandchildren: Michael (Allyssa) Heus, Jonathan (Grace) Heus, Jacob (Rachael) Hoffman, Alexandria (Timothy) Ebel, Grant Hoffman and Olivia Heus; and great granddaughter Scarlett Heus along with a long list of nieces and nephews across the United States and Europe. All will remember him not only for his service and dedication, but also for the sparkle in his eye when he was about to deliver a smart remark.

He was a man who loved his country, his community and above all, his family. He could be tough when he needed to be, but his ornery humor and steady presence made life brighter for those lucky enough to be around him. His stories, jokes and occasional stubbornness will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to either the Wounded Warrior Project or the APL.
