Obituary

William Donald Chilton

William “Bill” Chilton, known affectionately as "Chic," 91, of Macedonia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 4, 2026. He was born on Dec. 30, 1934, in Portage, Pennsylvania. Bill was a devoted husband to his late wife and high school sweetheart, Betty Lou Chilton (nee Thompson), whom he married on Nov. 6, 1954. Together, they shared more than 64 years of marriage and built a beautiful life centered around their family.Bill was the loving father of three, grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of five. He was a kind, funny and welcoming man who had a way of making everyone feel right at home. He was the rock of his family, full of wisdom and always willing to offer thoughtful advice to those who needed it. Bill took great pride in his military service as a paratrooper and carried that same dedication and strong work ethic throughout his life.

An avid golfer, Bill spent more than six decades enjoying the game, playing thousands of rounds in leagues and with family and friends. He also worked for many years at Gleneagles Golf Club, where he loved sharing his passion for golf with his family, whether it was playing a round together or just riding around in a golf cart to search for lost balls. His love of the game extended into his home, where his beloved basement "golf cave" housed nearly 2,000 golf balls, along with countless pieces of memorabilia and keepsakes he collected over the years.Outside of golf, Bill always took great pride in maintaining the best lawn in the neighborhood and was known for his ability to fix just about anything. He loved all-day trips to the casino, a good pizza and binge-watching just about every movie Netflix had to offer. Throughout their many years together, Bill and Betty enjoyed traveling with family and friends to destinations across the country, from Myrtle Beach to Disney World to various state parks. They particularly enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, where they could spend their days golfing and their evenings at the casino.

Above all else, Bill loved his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to let them know just how much they meant to him. His humor, wisdom and big heart will be deeply missed, but above all, his family will forever cherish the way he made each of them feel so loved. Survivors include his children: Colleen Baldyga (Rich), Vicki Kirk (James) and Bill Chilton (Kristen); grandchildren: Danny Baldyga (Felix), Shannon Colarossi (Joe), Ashley Baldyga (Jeff), Sean Colarossi (Sravani), Cami Cantrell (Cory), Aidan Chilton and Elyse Chilton; and his great-grandchildren: Connor, Anthony, Noah, Vincent and Dominic. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lou Chilton; his brothers, Harry Chilton and Sam Chilton; and his parents, Harry and Helen Chilton.

The family will receive friends Thursday Nov.12, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home. 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087. Funeral Services will be Friday Nov. 13, 2026, at the Funeral Home.
