In Loving Memory: William R. Smith (Bill) (May 3, 1933 - April 1, 2024)

William R. Smith, (Bill) passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 at the age of 90, surrounded by his devoted daughters and family. Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 3, 1933 to the late Harry Smith and Helen Russell. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Nita Maren Hellstrom; his second wife of 43 years Dorothy M. Smith; his son Michael W. Smith and his siblings James Smith, Robert Smith, Rosemary Axon and Patricia Gitterman.

Bill will be truly missed by his family. He was the loving father of Kathi (Steve) Speer, Mari (Rex) Harrison, Ellen Pacak, Kristi (Ricky) Clarkson, Terri (George) Conner and Karen (Don) Cornett; loving father-in-law of Rebel Smith; cherished grandfather of Jason (Rebecca) Lee, Caroline Speer, Joe (Brooke) Harrison, Cole (Leena) Pacak, Wade Pacak, Sean Pacak, Patrick Heller, Ryan (Sheena) Heller, Tommy (Mylene) Heller, Danny Conner, Joshua (Emily) Conner, Emily (Rob) Osborne, Jake Cornett, Logan (Elle) Cornett and Frannie Cornett; dear great-grandfather of Xander, Lucia, Scarlett, Olivia, Zach, Gavin, Ivy, Lily, Hudson, Isla, Cohen, Grady, and PJ.

Bill's life was a testament to hard work, love, and the enduring bonds of family. His journey began with humble roots and blossomed into a life filled with adventure and accomplishment. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. Throughout his life, Bill wore many hats with grace and determination. In his early years, his entrepreneurial spirit was evident, as he started a painting business, owned a bar, was a salesman and excelled in his endeavors, eventually establishing a printing supply business in Twinsburg, Ohio, where he and his family put down roots and flourished. Together, Bill and Dot shared a lifetime of traveling, creating cherished memories and enjoying retirement in The Villages, Florida. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, whether it was attending his grandchildren's sporting events, gathering for holiday celebrations, laughter-filled family dinners, spirited games of "Aggravation" and intense putt-putt golf.

Bill's warmth, humor, and competitive spirit brought joy to every occasion, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Bill was a passionate sports enthusiast, with a particular love for FOOTBALL, golf, and baseball and a little bit of friendly betting!! In his later years Bill shared a loving and fun filled companionship with Ellie Moorehead. In his final moments, Bill was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, finding peace in their embrace. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.

Rest in peace, dear Bill, Dad, Grandpa, PaPa Bill, Great PaPa, Grandpa Awesome, Uncle Billy, Mr. Mayor, Mr Smith.

Your love, laughter, and legacy will forever be cherished and remembered.
