Obituary

Willie Ozan/Auzenne Wilson was born in Beaumont, Texas (AKA Pear Orchard) on August 25, 1930, to William and Elda Auzenne of Opelousas and New Iberia, LA.  They were certain that their fifth child would be a second son, therefore, Willie was named after her father William.  They saw Willie was a girl.. They still named her Willie!  Willie grew up with her siblings in Beaumont, Texas.  They played together, attended local schools, helped their parents raise chickens, ducks, and dogs, as well as tended to their large family garden.  As a child, Willie and her sisters loved to play like they were Hollywood actresses. Willie always played the actress Alice Faye!

Willie O. was the bass drum player for the high school band.  as petite as she was, she was able to manage her base drum.

In 1948, Willie graduated from Hebert High School in Beaumont, Texas, followed by attending Lincoln Business College in Beaumont, where she studied to be an administrative assistant.  Upon completion, she left Beaumont and moved to Lawton, Oklahoma to live on a military base with her sister Gladys, brother-in-law, and their children. Willie often told stories of the adventures and fun she had while living with her family on the military base.

Willie later came to Cleveland, Ohio to visit her brother Leroy and her sister Daisy.  She loved Cleveland so much that she decided to plant her roots in Cleveland.  Willie worked as the administrative assistant for her brother Leroy, as he created his empire (Ozanne Construction), which was on Crawford Road in historical Hough Heights.  In later years, Willie met and then married the love of her life, Donald L. Wilson.  From their union, they had one child (Rhonda).  Willie devoted her life to her only child, and was her daughter's number one advocate, cheerleader, and motivator.  All of Rhonda's closest girlfriends became Willie's extended daughters.  She had no problem expressing disdain about anything to anyone, but, she did it in her own way.  Willie expressed how important her daughter, grandchildren, & family meant to her.

In 1995, Willie retired from Harshaw Chemical Company, in Solon, Ohio.  During her employment at Harshaw, Willie was very active with her coworkers on the bowling team and other out of work activities.  She treasured her friendships with her coworkers.

Willie often told Rhonda that she was so blessed to be apart of such a large family and extended family, where she was able to be active and present in the lives of her numerous nieces and nephews.  They knew Willie was a no-nonsense type of aunt and although petite her spirit was mighty!  She was an excellent secret keeper to many, well organized in her thoughts and intensions and personal business affairs.  She was very frugal with her money and could often be depended on by her family for a loan of any size.

Willie was a HUGE sports fan, she loved all the Cleveland teams- Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavaliers.  She also enjoyed watching Tiger Woods!  You could often see Willie coaching any of the above teams, including Tiger from her couch or anyone's couch she was visiting.

Willie was a devoted Catholic and refused to eat any meat on Fridays as her way of showing her devotion to her religion.  That was her truth and not to be debated.. She remained that way until she left this earth.

Willie leaves to treasure her love, friendship, and memory to her daughter Rhonda L. Wilson, three grandchildren – Kimberly (Victoria)-Atlanta, Georgia, Veronica (Jason)-Cleveland, Ohio, Kyle-Cleveland, Ohio.  Her sisters and best friends, Daisy Tubbs, Patsy Harris, Olga Ozanne, and Gladys Bunting(deceased); brothers Leroy Ozanne (Betty) Arizona, Roy Auzenne- Florida, and Ray Auzenne (deceased). Sister-in-law Dorothy Brown and mother-in-law Elizabeth Wilson (108 years old); God children Ralph Tubbs and Sheila Richardson. A host of nieces and nephews that she truly loved, including her extended Beaumont, Texas kinship family, cousins in California and Louisiana.  She held a special relationship with her niece Coletta Elmore.

The family would like to express their extreme love and gratitude to all during this time of bereavement.

We will forever treasure Willie's impression she left on our lives.  May this dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, god mother, cousin and friend and beautiful soul rest in peace.
