Wolf emigrated to the United States in February 1957 to be reunited with Sylvia, who had emigrated the year before with her family. He was a draftsman at Babcock and Wilcox in Chicago and then was later transferred to the Cleveland office. In 1962, he accepted a job at White Motors as a Special Development Engineer and later was promoted to Senior Design Engineer. He was transferred to the Advanced Products Division as a Design Engineer in the Research Department. In 1979, he accepted a position with Mercedes-Benz Freightliner as Chief Engineer, Chassis where he worked until his retirement on August 31, 1999. During his tenure, his group developed the under-slung "Airliner" air suspension used on 95% of Freightliner trucks today. His principal legacy is the frame grid system he developed for the Freightliner Century Class chassis which has since been adapted for use by Mercedes-Benz trucks.
For the past 22 years he enjoyed traveling with his family and golfing with his family and friends of the Senior League at Gleneagles Golf Course. He enjoyed building trains, models, reading, spending time with his family and the Indians (Go Tribe!).
